While our core team and headquarters are in Sacramento, California, we welcome remote workers from all over the country.
We've built a strong culture to foster valuable team relationships with both remote and California team members.
We host frequent trips during the year to bring the team together for extended periods of face-to-face time to build deeper relationships. Some examples of trips include our domestic excursions to San Diego, Newport Beach, and Lake Tahoe. Along with international trips to Costa Rica and Belize.

Primary Role
Driven by a passion of data and analysis, with a clear vision for how data can help inform and grow a business - you will lead our data and analytics initiatives. This role requires leadership skills required to grow and maintain a team of data engineers, scientists, and analysts.

You will provide direction and strategies for working with large amounts of raw data. The team will be responsible for the ingestion and analysis of disparate data sets from all areas of the company. By using solid architectural principals you will provide a foundation that allows for a solution that scales and is continuously improved.

Responsibilities
Standardize data intake and processing
Ensure governance of raw data
Create a centralized data lake that is modeled to meet analysis requirements
Work with the product, operations and executive teams to create data enabled user journeys
Create a common data framework that can be leveraged by various organizational teams
Create a vision for how data can be used to guide the product and company
Collaborate with all functions of the company to ensure data needs are addressed and the required data is modeled and available to analysts and end-users.
Develop a roadmap for the data and analytics function that clearly defines ownership and responsibility between the central data function and the functional groups.

Requirements
Postgraduate work or equivalent experience (Masters or PhD) in a quantitative field such as math, physics, computer science, statistics etc.
Minimum of 7 years experience in a senior leadership position managing an analytics team.
Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Go is an asset
Experience with managed AWS systems used for Data infrastructures (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Cloudwatch)
Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop, Redshift)
Experience with open source data & analytics tools.
Experience working with multiple executive level business stake holders.
Analytical mind and business acumen
Strong math skills (e.g. statistics, algebra)

Proficient knowledge of database and networked systems
