Overview

Location: Remote-first (with occasional travel for team offsites or planning sessions)

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

Webconnex is seeking an Engineering Operations Manager to ensure our engineering organization executes effectively, scales sustainably, and operates with clarity and accountability. You will be a key member of the Office of the CTO, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders to improve our planning processes, initiative tracking, delivery rhythms, and operational metrics.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on bringing order to complexity, translating vision into action, and empowering teams to do their best work through great systems. Just as importantly, this person must be a strong relational leader—capable of building trust, influencing without authority, and cultivating shared ownership across diverse teams.

The Engineering Operations Manager will also play a thoughtful role in how we adopt and integrate AI tools within our workflows. They will help ensure our use of AI enhances clarity, accelerates value delivery, and reinforces—not replaces—human-centered practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive Engineering Execution: Own the systems and rhythms that help engineering teams plan, execute, and deliver reliably.
  • Evolve Initiative Tracking: Build and maintain mechanisms for tracking major technical initiatives, surfacing risks, and enabling progress transparency.
  • Orchestrate Ceremonies: Continuously improve engineering-wide ceremonies (e.g. planning cycles, demos, retrospectives).
  • Build Accountability Structures: Define and operationalize methods for initiative ownership, progress reporting, and engineering-wide follow-through.
  • Partner with Product: Collaborate with Product and TPMs to align on delivery timelines, scope clarity, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Improve Process Maturity: Identify process gaps and implement systems that help engineering teams scale without losing speed or cohesion.
  • Facilitate Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate communication and handoffs across teams, functions, and stakeholders.
  • Enable Data-Driven Ops: Help define and maintain engineering metrics (velocity, cycle time, delivery health, etc.) that support healthy decision-making.
  • Guide AI Integration Thoughtfully: Help the team evaluate and adopt AI tools in ways that serve our values, enhance workflows, and support—not substitute—strong engineering practices.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering program management, operations, or technical leadership roles in a software organization
  • Demonstrated success improving how engineering teams operate at scale
  • Strong systems thinking, organizational design, and communication skills
  • Strong experience managing executive stakeholder relationships and aligning engineering priorities with business goals
  • Track record of developing and executing on strategic engineering roadmaps
  • Excellent facilitation and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence without authority
  • Thoughtful approach to emerging technologies, especially AI, and their impact on team dynamics
  • Comfort working in a remote-first, asynchronous environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience scaling engineering practices in high-growth SaaS or platform companies
  • Experience using common engineering metrics tools to manage team performance
  • Exposure to change management or strategic planning frameworks

  • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA)
  • Benevolence Fund for larger medical expenses
  • $1,200 annual mental health benefit
  • Connection Credits for team experiences
  • Participation in 3 company trips (including tropical summer experience with company & families)
